Ronald Roberts Jr. from St. Joseph's (PA) has earned StatSheet's A-10 Player of the Week award for January 30th. Jonathan Holton from Rhode Island has won StatSheet's A-10 Freshman of the Week. Finally, St. Joseph's (PA)'s Ronald Roberts Jr. has taken StatSheet's A-10 6th Man of the Week. Roberts Jr. put up a strong showing in shooting (70%) and rebounding (6.5 per game). The St. Joseph's (PA) sophomore played well for the Hawks in a win against Dayton and a loss to Temple.
Roberts Jr. led scoring for the Hawks with 27 points on 90% shooting in a 77-63 win over Dayton. In the next game he led all scoring and rebounding with a 17 point and 10 rebound performance in a 78-60 loss to Temple.
This is the first StatSheet A-10 Player of the Week award for Ronald Roberts Jr.. The runner-up this week is our own Raphiael Putney. Honorable mention goes to our own Chaz Williams.
StatSheet A-10 Freshman of the Week: Rhode Island's Jonathan Holton
Jonathan Holton averaged 34 minutes of playing time as a starter for Rhode Island. He bested all A-10 freshmen in both rebounding (11.0 per game) and free throws (5.0 per game). In a 72-66 loss to St. Bonaventure, Holton led all scoring and rebounding for the Rams with 16 and 11 respectively. Following that in a thin 86-81 win against Dayton, he dialed up 16 points and 11 rebounds.
This is the second time for Jonathan Holton, who won the StatSheet A-10 Freshman of the Week earlier this season. Jerrell Wright from La Salle gets runner-up. Mike Powell from Rhode Island takes honorable mention.
StatSheet A-10 6th Man of the Week: St. Joseph's (PA)'s Ronald Roberts Jr.
Sophomore Ronald Roberts Jr., a 6-8 reserve forward, averaged 30 minutes over the two games for the Hawks. In the win against Dayton, Roberts Jr. took the lead in scoring for the Hawks with 27 points on 90% shooting. During the loss to Temple, he led all scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Ronald Roberts Jr. has won the StatSheet A-10 6th Man of the Week a total of 7 times. Jerry Jones, a sophomore guard/forward from Duquesne, is the runner up. Chris Johnson, a junior guard/forward from St. Bonaventure, receives honorable mention. Massachusetts has yet to win StatSheet A-10 Player of the Week.
